Sterling silver hand fabricated Pan Pipe pendant. Each pipe has been lightly hand carved to give it a bit of a reed texture, alluding to the original material these were made from. A 5mm Nova Opal sits atop. If you really try, and hold your mouth just right, they will produce just the faintest whistling sound.
Pendant is 1" long and approx. 3/4" at it's widest point. It comes with an oxidized 18" sterling silver chain and handmade clasp.
The Roman historian, Pliny the Elder, described the Opal, as a precious stone containing the fiery flame of the carbuncle (Garnet), the resplendent purple of the Amethyst, and the sea-green glory of the Emerald – all shining together in union. It was considered by all in the ancient world to be the most bewitching and mysterious of gems, as it possessed all the virtues of the gemstones whose colors reside within it. We too, as humans, are full of color. Just as Opal flashes it’s “fire” display when shown in different lighting, we display our rainbow of colors as we are exposed to different situations. When creating with Opal, it’s common to back it with a dark patina. Opal’s color display is even more fiery when in the midst of darkness.
